Children and Young People's Worker (North East)



6-Month Fixed Term Contract

Based at: North Shields or Middlesbrough

Full Time - 37.5 hours per week (This role will involve some evening and occasional weekend working)

Salary: £26,683.81 to £30,324.54 per annum (Please note we do not operate a performance related reward system or automatic incremental payments.)

We offer hybrid working which includes a blend of home and office working with a minimum of one day per week in our office.

 

Team Fostering is an ethical not for profit fostering agency with a strong reputation and track record for providing high quality, value for money fostering placements for looked after children. As part of our continued growth, and as an agency committed to putting children’s futures first we are seeking to enhance our support offer to children and young people living with our fostering families.  We would welcome applications from skilled professionals who have experience of working directly with children and young people who will be able to support them at times of crisis and plan support packages.

The successful applicant will have:

  • Experience of working with children and young people
  • An understanding of the challenges that children and young people face and the barriers to success
  • Strong advocacy skills
  • An ability to relate well to children and young people and to use a variety of strategies to engage them and help overcome disaffection and low self esteem
  • The ability to use initiative successfully within a team and when working alone
  • Strong mediation skills
  • An understanding of safeguarding issues
  • A can-do attitude and a willingness to learn

PLEASE NOTE: In order to fulfil the travel requirements of the post, we can only consider applications from individuals who hold a valid driving licence and have access to a car.
