Each summer Bishop Auckland welcomes 'Kynren - an epic tale of England,' a live action extravaganza taking audiences through 2,000 years of history, myth and legend..

- Kynren

The show is one of the North East's most prevailing events of the year with over 1,000 volunteers taking part as cast and crew members to help in making it extraordinary.

This year saw the announcement that the cast and crew of Kynren had won The Queen's Award for Voluntary Service 2018. This is the highest award given to local volunteer groups across the UK to recognise outstanding work done in their own communities. It was created in 2002 to celebrate the anniversary of The Queen's coronation and is the equivalent of an MBE.

Mel, a foster carer at Team Fostering, and Supervising Social Worker Mark, of our Middlesbrough office, were volunteers in this years event and so are recipients of this award.

A very well done to them both!
