Local Authorities

Team Fostering are an independent, not-for-profit fostering agency who cover the North East, Yorkshire and East Midlands region.

Our mission statement is ‘putting children’s futures first,’ and this ethos is demonstrated widely by our foster carers and staff alike. By choosing Team Fostering, Local Authorities can be sure that they are working with a truly child-centred organisation with extensive experience in a diverse range of placements.

 

All of our carers are given comprehensive support, including:

A dedicated Supervising Social Worker

Fortnightly recorded supervision visits

Regular telephone contact

A 24/7 duty contact for out of hours support staffed by social workers locally

We also offer the following:

A range of activities during all school holidays and at Christmas, for our children and young people as well as our foster carers

An annual caravan holiday provided during the Spring Bank Holiday

Age-appropriate activities which ensure that younger children as well as older individuals have the chance to get involved in day trips or weekends away

 

School performance for children in our care are very important to us, and we have a strong Education and Support team who offer:

Assistance with any difficulties that the child or young person is facing in school or with education, including helping our carers to ensure school attendance

Training for carers, to illuminate general and specific aspects of Education provision

Assistance in the completion of forms and admissions, helping carers to be aware of the child’s entitlements and suggesting ideas and resources to support them

Visiting prospective schools with you where possible and helping prepare a child ‘in transition’ from primary to secondary school

Supporting the child’s academic needs in school as well as if they are out of school (e.g. due to an exclusion or while a school placement is being found)

 

Referrals can be made to our dedicated Placements Teams between 9 am and 5pm, then to our Out of Hours Duty Social Worker
up to 8pm

Our highly skilled Placements teams have an in depth knowledge of our foster carers and can help to identify the best resource available, according to the child’s needs.

Our Placements staff offer a flexible, responsive, friendly, professional service and have a comprehensive understanding of all the Local Authorities we work with, including the Fostering Frameworks which we operate within

We offer a range of Placement options in addition to mainstream placements, including Parent and Child, Placements for Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children/Young People, Solo Placements and placements for children who display Sexually Harmful Behaviours, Long term placements, Short Break Care

We have a diverse range of skilled, trained foster carers throughout the North East and Yorkshire and East Midlands regions to offer local placements

We provide detailed information about charges and services provided

We provide comprehensive profiles on all available carers, in addition to ‘welcome’ profiles for children and young people written by foster carers

Wherever possible we will provide a choice of foster carers for any child/young person referred

We operate a robust matching process and provide a detailed matching report to support each placement

Our Placements teams will co-ordinate the sharing of information and introductions whenever possible

Our Education Support Team can assist with school transfers and transitions
