Thinking about a new start in 2021? Why not consider fostering?

27 November 2020

At Team Fostering, we know that the events of 2020 have made lasting changes to many people’s lives. As we see ongoing demand for safe, supportive and caring homes for children and young people in care, we also know that the uncertainty of the months ahead and an unstable job market mean that a lot of people are reconsidering what their options are for the future.

If you’re taking some time to reflect and you’re looking to do something with your life that’s more of a vocation than a ‘job’, fostering is certainly worth thinking about. It’s full of hope, community, kindness and passion for making the lives of young people better.

While becoming a foster carer isn’t a role that you should make a snap judgement about – and we wouldn’t expect you to – if you’ve room in your home and in your heart and feel ready to make a commitment towards providing care and support to a young person who really needs your help, it’s a good time to come and talk to us about whether fostering is the right next step for you. While the assessment process can take between four to six months, it means that we can work closely with you to make sure that it’s the best decision for you and that you feel fully equipped with the skills and knowledge to begin your life as a carer.

Fostering isn’t always easy – but the support we provide at Team Fostering is shaped to provide the strongest foundation possible for our foster carers, and importantly, the children we work with. With psychological support, peer mentoring, educational help and staff on call 24 hours, our comprehensive support system ensures that everyone, from our newest carers to those who’ve been with us since the very start in 2001, gets the guidance they need when its required.

If you think that 2021 could bring a new start and a new vocation, our welcoming and experienced recruitment team can talk you through the process, answering any questions you might have about getting started as a carer.  Of course, if you’d like to do some research first, our website is packed with information about fees and benefits, what we look for from our foster carers, our not-for-profit status and why our carers choose Team Fostering over other agencies.

When you’re ready to start your fostering journey, you can:
