Our Commitment to the Environment

Our commitment to the environment

18 June 2019

Team Fostering prides itself on its status as an ethical organisation, operating as a not-for-profit fostering provider. Our ethical approach does not stop with our decision to put children before profit, instead stemming across all areas of the business and methods of business practice.

To this end, the agency will soon be launching its new Environmental Action Plan that will demonstrate our commitment to cutting down on our carbon footprint, waste levels and use of non-renewable energy. The plan will highlight our ambition for the future, along with the initiatives and plans in place to make this a reality.

In the meantime, we’re impressed by our staff team who already work hard to do their bit for the environment as individuals and as workplace effort. We have recycling processes in place across all our offices and where possible, use renewable energy. We encourage staff to car-share or use public transport when travelling between offices, and where possible conduct meetings via skype or teleconference to avoid unnecessary travel emissions. We aim to use suppliers with ethical values and responsible sources and take great care in selecting new partners.

Katrin, our Data Officer, recently launched a Team Fostering crisp packet initiative to support Walkers’ Crisp Packet Recycling Scheme (we won’t divulge the time it took to reach our first 400 empty crisp packets.. or our second!). Partaking in initiatives like this add to our already strong recycling ethic and our staff team are incredible at looking out for such opportunities.

Our Environmental Action Plan will reflect the values already held by foster carers and staff at Team Fostering, and we look forward to further developing our efforts towards sustaining the environment.

Team Fostering is an independent, not-for-profit fostering agency covering the North East, Yorkshire and East Midlands. Operating as an ethical provider helps us to do our bit for the greater good but provides benefits for foster carers and children via enhanced support services funded by the agency, innovative training and competitive allowances.
