Carer Transfer FAQs

We know that even if you're an existing foster carer with another fostering agency or local authority, it's still quite a step to take to transfer somewhere new. To help you with the process, we've answered some key questions you might have about transferring to Team Fostering here. 


  • Will there be any break in my payments during the transfer?

No. We make sure that there is no break in payments while you are transferring, and this is so that you are able to provide the best quality of care.

  • Will I need to tell my current agency that I am transferring?

Yes, but only once we have formally invited you to apply, and you will be aware of this beforehand. Your agency will need to know that you are leaving and we will need to seek a reference from them, however advise you not to resign from them until you have been approved by our Panel.

  • Will I need to go through another full Form F Assessment?

Yes, however we are likely to fast-track your assessment as a current foster carer and we aim to get your Form F to panel within 4 months.

  • Will my pay match the fees paid at Team Fostering even if I currently receive less?

Yes. Even if you are currently paid less by your agency, your pay at Team Fostering will rise to match what all of our current carers are paid. For more information on fees and benefits, click here.

  • How do I start the transfer process?

To begin the transfer process, we are here to answer any questions you have in the first instance. You can contact us by submitting an online enquiry, calling us on 0800 292 2003 or emailing We also have a Live Chat operator who can take your details via the website. Following this, we will arrange for one of our friendly and experienced team members to come out and visit you to get to know you and your family a bit better. If all sides are happy to proceed, we will allocate you a Form F Assessor and begin an assessment to take to panel. We aim to complete transferring assessments in no longer than 4 months.
